‘Belgium could withdraw recognition from Bill White,’ says Ivan De Vadder

Yesterday afternoon, when the American ambassador was summoned to the foreign ministry, he was once again shown the Vienna Convention ‘or at least he was reminded of it,’ says VRT News political editor Ivan De Vadder (pictured).
‘That convention sets out the rules that diplomats must adhere to. It also states that if you go too far as a diplomat, you can be declared persona non grata. The host country (in this case Belgium) has the right to expel you from the country and can refuse to accredit or recognise you as a diplomat.’
De Vadder adds: ‘That may be why White is singing a few notes lower down the key in interviews now.’
