Conner Rousseau, leader of governing Flemish socialist Vooruit, says he is not intimidated by US Ambassador Bill White and his demand that he remove a critical post about President Trump's policy at the risk of being banned from entering the USA if he does not. In the post Rousseau speaks of President Trump, Hitler and the Nazis and says history is repeating itself. ‘I posted that on social media five weeks ago, and yesterday it suddenly became a problem,’ the popular Flemish socialist notes.

‘I suspect that his intervention in the judical investigation into Jewish circumcisers did not go as he would have liked and that he is now lashing out wildly and looking for someone to blame.’
Rousseau has no intention of being silenced. ‘All I can say is that we in Belgium have the right – and I believe also the political duty – to express our concerns about what is happening in America. I respect the ambassador's opinion, but I also ask for respect for our opinion and that of many Belgians.’
