One of the parents was supposed to have taken the girl to the nursery that morning, but, according to the public prosecutor’s office, had forgotten that the child was in the car. It was not until the evening that the girl was found in the car. This happened at the GBS ‘t Zonneveld School in Bertem, where the toddler’s older sister had been dropped off earlier that day.

The 18-month-old girl was taken to hospital, but it was too late to save her.

The Leuven public prosecutor’s office is investigating exactly what happened.
