A total of 2.6 million passengers used Brussels Airport in July, the highest monthly figure since 2019 and a 2.8% increase on last July.
Brussels Airport sees passenger numbers reach highest level since 2019
The start of the summer holidays led to a sharp rise in the number of flights at Zaventem. The busiest day was 20 July, with more than 92,000 passengers processed. The month’s most popular destinations were Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Germany, Portugal, France, the US and Switzerland.
“Brussels Airport recorded strong passenger traffic in July despite the ongoing impact of the situation in the Middle East, with flights to Tel Aviv remaining suspended,” the airport said in a press release.
“In addition, airline Transavia has been stationing a fourth aircraft at Brussels Airport since last month, which is also resulting in more frequent flights to destinations in the Mediterranean region.”
Freight volumes at the airport were down, however: the total volume of freight fell by just over 3% in July to nearly 67,000 tonnes.
