Belgium is today sending help to France. The country’s southern neighbour is being ravaged by severe wildfires, particularly in the region around Bordeaux in the Gironde (South-western France).
“What is happening today in France and many other countries is terrible both for the people and the natural environment,” Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken (Flemish nationalist N-VA) posted on X. The cabinet minister also expressed his respect for the firefighters, military personnel and emergency services.
“The Ministry of Defence is sending a substantial aid package to Bordeaux today. This includes Panther fire engines with crews and water supply lorries. We will always help our French friends,” he said.
Belgian PM Bart De Wever (Flemish nationalist N-VA) posted a similar message earlier.
