The Te Deum is one of the permanent fixtures of Belgium’s National Day.

It is a solemn hymn of praise, an opportunity to give thanks for the country’s unity, the preservation of peace and the health of the head of state i.e. King Filip.

King Filip, Queen Mathilde and their four children, Crown Princess Elisabeth, Princes Gabriel and Emmanuel and Princess Eléonore are all present at the cathedral.

Prince Gabriel is wearing his military uniform. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever and US Ambassador Bill White are among the dignitaries.
