Belgian Football Association responds to FIFA after contesting Balogun’s eligibility

Belgium’s FA issued a statement after it was informed by world football governing body FIFA that it’s appeal against US striker Balogun’s eligibility to play following a red card was declared inadmissible. The statement came head of Belgium’s match against the USA in which the Red Devils humiliated co-host USA 4 – 1.

“The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has received the ruling from the FIFA Appeals Committee, signed by its member Mr Salman Al-Ansari, in which the RBFA’s case is declared inadmissible and the previous decision allowing the American player Folarin Balogun to play is upheld.”

“To date, the RBFA has still not received any grounds for this decision, nor the information it has requested since the start of these proceedings, namely a copy of the decision and the grounds on which the player was declared eligible to play, as well as the referee’s report. This constitutes a breach of FIFA regulations.’

‘The RBFA has informed the US Soccer Federation that it will contest the player’s eligibility should he be listed on the referee’s match sheet. This leaves all further options open.’
