Tom Van Grieken (pictured left), leader of the Flemish far right Vlaams Belang party earlier invited Bardella. “The bond between the Rassemblement and our party is already 40 years old and is very strong. There is also a bond between Jordan and myself – I would almost call it a friendship – which has lasted a good eight years.”

Van Grieken hopes the lecture will send a dual message. A vote on the European Migration Pact is due to take place tomorrow. “Bringing Jordan here is a final tour de force to show that we stand shoulder to shoulder in opposition to that pact.”

“New times are also on the horizon, and that is the message we want to send. Next year’s presidential elections in France are not just about the future of France, but will have a major impact on the future of the whole of Europe.”

Van Grieken hopes that Bardella will pave the way for greater acceptance of his own party’s ideas.
