Yesterday morning it happened again: one of the buses at the depot of a LeTec subcontractor in Tournai had disappeared. The bus was eventually found in Mouscron, some 30 kilometres away.

The culprit? A 16-year-old boy!

The youngster has managed to break into the subcontractor’s depot in Tournai on several occasions. “He keeps stealing one of our buses, driving it around all night and leaving it somewhere by morning,” says Audrey Lepape, LeTec’s spokesperson.

One of the bus drivers told the SudInfo newspaper that the youngster even dared to pick up passengers at night. But the spokeswoman cannot confirm this.

The police had already identified the young man

‘We reported the stolen bus to the police every time, and the police have intervened,’ says Lepape. Yet this has not stopped the youngster from getting behind the wheel again.

‘We have now asked the subcontractor to improve security at the depot so that the youngster can no longer gain access. The public prosecutor is also investigating the incidents,’ Lepape adds.
