An e-scooter rider has died after being run over by a bus in Antwerp on Tuesday morning. The accident that involved a bus operated by the Flemish public transport company De Lijn happened on the Kempenstraat in the Het Eilandje area of Antwerp.
The accident happened at 9.10 am on Tuesday morning on the Eilandje in Antwerp. The man was crossing the road at zebra crossing on Kempenstraat. He was on his e-scooter but had not dismounted. He was not wearing a crash helmet.
The scooter rider was dragged along for a few metres but managed to free himself from under the wheels of the bus.
He suffered a head injury and was taken to Cadix Hospital that is located in the vicinity. His condition is not life-threatening.
