DAZN to continue to broadcast Belgian professional football until mid-2027

The sports streaming platform DAZN has committed itself to broadcasting Belgian professional football until at least the end of next season, with plans extending into mid-2027, its lawyers told a Brussels court on Tuesday.

DAZN gave its assurance was given during a wider legal case focused on tackling online piracy. Major technology firms are challenging measures that require them to block access to illegal streaming sites. Earlier rulings had ordered these companies to implement blocking systems at their own expense.

The news follows months of uncertainty regarding DAZN’s contract with the Pro League that groups Belgium’s professional football clubs. In late 2025, the Pro League initiated an emergency arbitration procedure after DAZN said it could not maintain the ongoing football broadcasting contract without a viable agreement with telecom operators. Arbitrators ruled that the broadcaster must continue showing matches and meet its payment obligations until the end of the football season.

Although the 5-year rights deal agreed in 2024 was worth significantly less than the previous broadcasting rights contract, DAZN has struggled to secure distribution partnerships with major telecom providers. As a result, matches are currently available only via its own app.

DAZN’s latest commitment suggests Belgian top-flight football will continue to be broadcast live for at least another season.
