Bpost will collect parcels from collection points suffering from lack of space after all

The Belgian post office Bpost now says that it will collect parcels from collection points that are struggling with a lack of space due to an ongoing strike after all. In recent days Bpost stopped collecting return parcels as the strike was causing storage capacity issues at its sorting offices.

The impact of strike that has been ongoing for several days is being felt particularly hard in Wallonia. Due to a lack of storage capacity, Bpost decided to suspend the collection of return packages from post offices and collection points. Customers could still hand in return parcel at their local post office or “Post Point”, but they wouldn’t be collected by Bpost.

However, after a few days of no return parcels being collected, many shops that have Post Points or Bpost parcel services are starting to have storage capacity issues themselves.

Now Bpost says that it will collect return parcels from shops that are suffering from a shortage of space. Bpost’s spokesman Mathieu Goedefroy told journalists that “They will be contacted to arrange a collection”.

Bpost points out that there are also post offices and parcel lockers in every municipality where customers can drop off their return parcels. The company emphasises that everyone can still send return parcels, but that they may take longer to be processed by Bpost.
