Belgium’s national football team the Red Devils have drawn the second of their 2 friendly matches. After having beaten the United States 2-5 on Saturday evening, the Red Devils drew 1-1 against Mexico in Chicago on Tuesday evening local time (the early hours of Wednesday morning here in Belgium).
As he had stated earlier, the Belgian national team coach Rudi Garcia opted for an almost completely different starting line-up that the one that had beaten the United States on Saturday. Only Maxim De Cuyper and Kevin De Bruyne were in the starting line-up of both matches.
Belgians endured a particularly difficult first half. Outplayed in terms of intensity, far too sloppy in possession and, in fact, posing no threat for the entire 45 minutes.
Mexico’s goal came in the 19th minute. Once again Belgium conceded a goal from a set piece.
A Mexican corner sailed past everyone, allowing Jorge Sanchez to open the scoring with ease.
Lukebakio: 3 goals in 2 games
In the first minute of the second half Dodi Lukebakio came out of nowhere to put Belgium level. It was his third international goal in just 2 games, having scored twice on Saturday against the US.
Following the equaliser, the match was devoid of too much in the way of chances. Mexico was no longer dominant.
During the final half an hour Garcia brought in no fewer than 5 substitutes, but this did nothing to alter the score that remained 1-1.
