Geely, one of China’s largest car manufacturers, is bringing its own brand to Belgium, the company has announced.
Geely will market two SUVs in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg: the Geely E5 and the Starray EM-i.
The fully electric Geely E5 is fitted with a 160-kW electric motor and, depending on the battery, has a range of up to 475 kilometres. Fast charging takes the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.
The Geely Starray EM-i is a plug-in hybrid, combining a petrol engine with an electric motor. Together, these provide a range of over 1,000 kilometres. In electric mode, the car can travel up to 136 kilometres, whilst fast charging takes around 16 minutes.
35 locations in the Benelux this year
A retail and service network with local partners is to be established. It is not yet clear who these partners will be.
Geely says that by the summer there will already be 20 locations in the Benelux, rising to 35 by the end of the year. By 2028, the car manufacturer aims to have enough locations so that every customer has to drive no more than 25 minutes to a garage.
Prices start at €37,990 for the Geely E5 and €34,990 for the Starray EM-i. The first deliveries are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
Geely’s portfolio also includes the Lynk & Co and Zeekr brands, amongst others. It also owns car manufacturer Volvo.
Denza too is coming to Europe
Last week, it was announced that another Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD will launch its premium brand Denza in Europe on 8 April, as the electric Denza Z9 GT hits the market. The Denza Z9 GT can display an impressive set of figures: a range of over 1,000 kilometres and a charging time of just 9 minutes.
