The Walloon Brabant Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that an ongoing investigation into the convicted murderer and paedophile Marc Dutroux concerns the possession of images of the sexual abuse of children. During a search of Marc Dutroux’s cell at Nivelles Prison 4 envelopes were found containing explicit images of females, including minors.
Prosecutor’s offices says that 4 envelopes containing images of child sex abuse were found in Dutroux’s cell
The investigation was opened more than 1,5 years ago on 11 July 2024. The prosecutor’s office had received information from inside Nivelles Prison, where Marc Dutroux is serving a life sentence. The information was that Dutroux had a mobile phone in his cell on which images of the sexual abuse of children were stored.
Police officers carried out a search of the cell on 31 July 2024. Although no mobile phone was found they did find 4 envelopes containing images of naked girls and women.
In early January last year, the prosecutor’s office requested addition information and an examining magistrate added amongst other things a psychiatric report on Marc Dutroux that was drafted in 2020. The report states that Dutroux has a “psychopathic profile” with “an anti-social personality, narcissist and perverse tendencies and is devoid of any empathy”.
