During the municipal council meeting in Ninove (East Flaznders) on Monday evening thieves attempted to break into the town hall. The municipal council meeting was suspended as a result. The police were able to apprehend the suspected burglars.

Local councillor Stijn Vermassen of the opposition socialist party Vooruit was speaking, when he was suddenly interrupted by Mayor Guy D'haeseleer of the far-right party Forza Ninove. “Two thieves have broken into the town hall. There was already a break-in this morning, and now it's happening again”, Mayor D'haeseleer said.

The council meeting was suspended for a short time. After a few minutes, Mayor D'haeseleer announced that the thieves had been caught, and the council meeting could resume.

“The people that needed to be caught have been caught. Thanks to the police and also to alderman Ilse Malfroot (Forza Ninove) for being vigilant. There was also a break-in this morning. The police were able to catch a couple of culprits from Brussels then too.”
