The federal economy has shared a “blacklist” of play sand in which the carcinogenic substance asbestos has been found. The products hail from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and were sold via Amazon or Hobbycraft. We are still awaiting the results of samples from Belgium.

Belgian economy ministry publishes “blacklist” of play sand in which asbestos has been found

In Belgium, various accredited laboratories have not yet found any carcinogenic asbestos in samples of play sand. However, the ministry is distributing a list of play sand that has already been tested in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and is now on the “blacklist”.
Retailers are advised to stop selling this sand and consumers are asked to stop buying it. In this case, it only concerns sand sold online by e-commerce giant Amazon and in the web shop and stores of the British company Hobbycraft.
