In a statement released on Monday evening Prince Laurant says that he met the late American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein face to face twice. This follows an earlier statement in which the King's Filip’s younger brother said that he had “never attended an event” with Jeffery Epstein.

In his second press release, Prince Laurent says that his first press release “probably wasn’t clear enough”. “When I said that I had never attended an event at which Epstein or his entourage were present, I meant public or collective events. I have, however, met Epstein twice face to face at his request. Once in the early 1990s and a second time in the early 2000s”.
Prince Laurent gave no details about the reason for their meeting or where it took place.
Last weekend, the daily ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ reported that Prince Laurent's name was in Jeffery Epstein's address book. In a written statement given to the press agency Belga on Monday Prince Laurent said he wanted to put an end to “the rumours” regarding the Epstein case.
