A young Belgium girl from Walloon Brabant Province who went missing after the fire in a Swiss ski resort bar in Crans Montana has been identified as one of the deceased. The news came in a statement from the public prosecutor of Valais canton, where Crans Montana is located on Sunday and has been confirmed by the Belgian foreign ministry.
‘The Swiss authorities have confirmed that the young Belgian who had been reported missing is among the victims. We express our condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim,’ the ministry said in a statement.
The Belgian girl is 17 and VRT understands she is from Waterloo.
The Belgian foreign ministry had previously announced that three Belgians were among the victims of the fire. In addition to this girl another girl was slightly injured. She suffered superficial burns and has already been able to leave hospital. A boy (who has both Belgian and Swiss nationality) is in a more serious condition. He has been transferred to a specialised centre in Belgium.
