The Flemish public transport De Lijn has announced fare increases averaging 4.2% that will take effect from 1 February. The sharpest increases are for season tickets with the price of a 12-month season ticket set to rise by more than 20% from 416 euro to 499 euro.
However, 1 of the Flemish public transport company’s season tickets, the Buzzy Pazz that offers 12 months unlimited travel on De Lijn’s bus and tram network to young adults aged between 18 and 24, will actually fall in price from 215 euro now to 165 from 1 February.
The price of single journey and 1-day travel card tickets will remain unchanged. However, the price of 10-journey ‘Lijnkaart’ tickets is set to increase by 1 euro to 22 euro. 5-journey and tickets for people travelling in a group will also increase from the start of next month.
Last year De Lijn increase the price of its tickets by an average of 18%, following a 3-year price freeze.
