Last night, the Sheraton hotel at Brussels Airport (Zaventem – Flemish Brabant) was evacuated for a while due to a fire in the underground car park, the local fire department has confirmed. No one was injured in the fire.
The fire department was called in at around 12:30 a.m. to respond to a vehicle fire in the hotel's underground carpark, but once fire-fighters arrived they discovered the fire had broken out in a technical room. The hotel’s 175 guests were evacuated to the airport departure hall while the fire department tackled the blaze.
There was a lot of smoke in the carpark, where visibility was limited, but in the end the fire service was able to bring the fire under control. After the hotel was properly ventilated and CO levels were checked, hotel guests were able to return to their rooms.
