Pride of place for Atomium in Brussels New Year's Eve fireworks display

This year, Brussels' New Year's fireworks display returns to the Atomium, the landmark dating from the 1958 World Fair representing an atom of iron and symbolising the unity and strength of an often divided country, with each sphere representing one of Belgium’s erstwhile nine provinces. “Fusion” promises to be an innovative light show with an original integration of the monument.

In Brussels, on 31 December 2025, the New Year's Eve fireworks display will once again explode from the foot of the Atomium. From 9 p.m. onwards, electronic music DJ and producer Brieuc will get the fireworks display evening off to a good start with his DJ set.

Arteventia, a French company, has prepared a 15-minute fireworks and laser show. Jean-François Homerin's team and artistic director Edouard Grégoire were also involved in this year’s Belgian National Day celebrations.

In total, 2,000 fireworks will be set off from the ground or from elevated gondolas, while flame throwers will reach heights of up to 20 metres in the air.

Homerin promises an intense, varied and innovative show. ‘We are presenting fifteen scenes, each with their own identity, both dynamic and emotional, all building to a crescendo in the grand finale’

Each scene is accompanied by appropriate music: ‘It's a nod to the biggest dance, pop and electro hits of the past 30 to 40 years.’

'Fusion' of atoms and the crowd!

The Atomium takes centre stage in the show, which is why it is aptly named Fusion. ‘The show illustrates the fusion of atoms and the fusion of a diverse crowd of people who come together to celebrate the New Year.’

Homerin wants to create an original light show that goes beyond traditional fireworks. ‘Thanks to laser light particles, the Atomium will act as a large energy accumulator that at midnight will transform into an energetic firework display’ he claims.
