On Saturday evening an army of Santa Clauses made their way through the centre of the West Flemish seaside resort of De Haan, all ready to take part in the Christmas Fun Run. Every participant was required to wear a Santa’s hat and Christmas outfit, which made for some wonderful scenes and a great atmosphere. The proceeds will go to the charity ‘Stand Up to Cancer’(Kom op tegen Kanker).

It's the Christmas Fun Run in De Haan where atmosphere takes precedence over sporting achievements. Participants could choose between a 5- or 7-kilometre Christmas run through the town centre. Around 1,300 enthusiastic runners took part: 1,120 adult runners and around 180 children. Everyone donned a Christmas outfit and a Santa’s hat. A vigorous warm-up followed. Then all the participants set off together on the course, cheered on by the many spectators lining the streets of De Haan.
The proceeds from the Christmas Fun Run will go to ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ (Kom op tegen Kanker). After the Christmas run, there were plenty of opportunities to discuss performance in a winter bar.
