A woman that stabbed another woman at a flat in the West Flemish coastal municipality of Blankenberge will appear before an examining magistrate on suspicion of attempted murder. The woman and her victim are former partners.
At around midnight on Saturday local residents overheard a heated discussion between two women in a flat on the Graaf Jansdijk in Blankernberge. The police were called and when they arrived, they found the woman that lived in the flat in a critical condition. She had sustained several stab wounds to her upper body.
Her attacker, a woman in her 40s, is her ex-partner. She had fled the scene but was later arrested in the centre of Blankenberge.
The victim underwent an operation on Sunday and has since been questioned by police. The suspect will appear before an examining magistrate and will be questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
