The baby is less than a month old and requires urgent medical care. Nevertheless, the parents left the hospital in Ghent with the baby without permission.

The police and judicial authorities immediately launched an international search, with the assistance of the Belgian police missing persons unit.

At around 2 a.m. on Friday night, the police found the parents and their baby in Germany. The baby immediately received the necessary medical care. The German police questioned the parents, but they were then allowed to go.

Their baby will remain in a hospital in Germany for as long as medically necessary.
