Anyone stepping outside this morning will notice that it is significantly colder. This will continue for the rest of the week, with temperatures hovering around freezing. In the south of the country, snow will even gather on the ground on Wednesday. ‘Suddenly, we are returning to more normal weather for mid-November,’ says VRT meteorologist Bram Verbruggen. ‘In recent weeks, we have been living well above our means.’
According to the Met Office, today will be a mixed bag with heavily overcast skies and showers. In the High Ardennes, showers will fall as sleet or snow, which may collect on the ground for a while.
In the afternoon, shower activity will decrease and there will be more sunny spells. Maximum temperatures will range from 2 degrees Celsius in the High Fens to 8-9 degrees in central parts.
Inland, expect a moderate north-westerly wind with gusty conditions on the coast. A cold night in prospect with minimum temperatures between 1 and 3 degrees. In the Ardennes, we are treated to freezing temperatures in most places.
