Letters sent to tens of thousands of unemployed people that are set to lose their benefit

This week, the National Employment Office (RVA) is once again sending tens of thousands of letters to unemployed people that are set to lose their unemployment benefit. In a press release, RVA announced that more than 47,000 unemployed people will receive a letter from them telling them that they will be no longer entitled to unemployment benefit. The Federal Government is reforming unemployment benefit, limiting the claimants’ rights to claim according to their employment history and how long they have been unemployed.

Job seekers affected by the reform receive a notification letter. The notification letters are being sent out in waves. The first batch was sent out in September with a second batch being sent out last month. RVA says is now ready to send out the third batch of letters.

This time, the recipients are job seekers that are in what is known as the third renumeration period for unemployment benefit. During this period their benefits have been reduced to a lump sum. They are also all claimants that have been unemployed for less than 8 years of their working lives. A total of 47,691 people will receive a letter this month. They will lose their entitlement to unemployment benefit from 1 April 2026.

Next year a further three batches of notification letters will be sent to claimants that are set to lose their unemployment benefit. The letters will be sent by post and via the eBox service that is used to send official documents digitally.
