The minister made the announcement on X. Friday afternoon, the cabinet reached an agreement in principle on the drone defence plan. However, the final green light had not yet been given, as “a number of options” still had to be considered.

Francken's announcement means that approval has now been granted. ‘Counter-drone plan just approved by the cabinet,’ he writes.

The plan provides for the purchase of detection equipment and systems to shoot down drones, according to the post. ‘The safety of our airports and military domains is an absolute priority.’
