High winds forecast for Thursday, Code Yellow weather warning for the whole country

The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) has issued a Code Yellow weather warning for high winds tomorrow (Thursday 23 October). The warning applies to the whole of Belgium and will be in force from Thursday morning until midnight. In coastal areas gusts of wind reaching speeds of up to 110 km/h are forecast.

The gusts of wind will be caused by a depression that will move across the Channel on Thursday and develop into a storm over the North Sea.

According to most weather forecasts, gusts on Thursday afternoon and evening could reach between 70 km/h and 90 km/h in inland areas and between 90km/h and 110km/h at the coast.

A code yellow weather warning for high winds has been issued for the whole of Belgium. It will apply from tomorrow morning until midnight on Thursday.

The wind will shift from south-westerly to north-westerly during the course of the day. The Royal Meteorological Institute says that if the forecasts are correct, a code orange weather warning may become applicable in some areas.
