The company that manages Brussels Airport at Zaventem in Flemish Brabant has announced two new destinations from the airport this winter. The launch of services to Chongqing, in southwest China and Sälen, in central Sweden will bring the total number of destinations from Zaventem to 135. Meanwhile, the Czech airline Smartwings will also begin operations at the airport later this month.
From 22 November, the Chinese airline Hainan Airlines will launch three flights a week between Zaventem and Chongqing, in southwest China. This will bring the total number of Asian destinations from Brussels Airport to 8.
The Belgian airline TUI fly is also launching a new route. From 20 December passengers will be able to fly with TUI fly to Sälen, a ski resort in central Sweden near the Norwegian border.
Despite the 2 new additions, the number of destinations available from Zaventem this winter is less than it was during the winter of 2024, when 142 destinations were available. This is primarily because TUI fly has decided to end its long-haul flights from Zaventem. Other destinations that have been dropped include Tromsø in Norway and Birmingham in the UK.
From 26 October the Czech carrier Smartwings will begin operations at Brussels Airport with 12 flights a week to Prague.
