A plan developed by the main shareholder of the Brussels football club Marc Coucke sees Kenneth Bornauw appointed as CEO and Michael Verschueren as chairman.
A new era may once again be dawning at premier league football club Anderlecht of Brussels. At a special board meeting, a plan proposed by Marc Coucke was approved: Michael Verschueren returns as chairman and Kenneth Bornauw becomes the new CEO. The duo takes up their new positions shortly.
Following the resignation of Wouter Vandenhaute as Anderlecht chairman, main shareholder Marc Coucke promised to draw up a new structure to bring Anderlecht back to the top of Belgian football.
This now translated into a plan with two familiar faces in leading roles. It was given the green light by a special board meeting on Wednesday.
Kenneth Bornauw is the new Anderlecht CEO. The father of former player Sebastiaan Bornauw left Anderlecht in June as CEO Non-Sports after missing out on the CEO position.
In the redesigned management structure, he is now more senior than Tim Borguet, the current CEO Sports, and will therefore have the final say on the most important decisions.
In addition, Michael Verschueren becomes chairman, which is mainly a ceremonial role.
Verschueren left the club two years ago and subsequently held a senior position at the European Club Association (ECA).
