Consortium 12-12 and MSF launch fundraiser for Gazans (VIDEO)

Consortium 12-12, a group of Belgian charities, and MSF have set up a joint fundraiser for the people of Gaza. They want to mobilise Belgians via a radio and TV campaign that Flemish public broadcaster VRT and its private counterparts Play Media and DPG Media are jointly backed. French-language media outlets RTL, RTBF and Rossel are also supporting the campaign.

‘There is an urgent need for a large-scale expansion of humanitarian aid to meet the overwhelming medical, psychological and material needs in devastated Gaza,’ says the press release from MSF and Consortium 12-12.

That is why they are making a joint appeal to the public at large. Various broadcasters are joining forces to support the appeal. The three Flemish broadcasters VRT, Play Media and DPG Media are airing a radio and TV appeal.

The video, which can be heard or seen on VRT 1 TV, VRT Canvas TV, Radios 1, Radio 2, MNM, Studio Brussel and Klara, calls for support and donations so that more aid can be given to the people of Gaza.

‘Consortium 12-12 member organisations were already present in Gaza and are working hard to help the people there. With this joint appeal to the general public, we want to raise the funds we need to strengthen our aid efforts further,’ says Isabelle Verhaegen, chair of Consortium 12-12.

On the French-speaking side, RTL, RTBF and Rossel are also joining forces to support the campaign. The proceeds will go to the existing regional fund for the Gaza emergency set up by MSF as well as to the new emergency fund set up by Consortium 12-12.
