Christie's International Real Estate, an estate agent that is specialed in luxury properties, has been given the task of selling the iconic Saint-Cyr House that is located in the “Squares” area adjacent to Brussels’ European District. The asking price for Art Nouveau gem on Ambiorix Square is 1.9 million euro.
The Saint-Cyr House dates from the early 20th century and was designed by architect Gustave Strauven. Gustave Strauven, learned his trade from the art nouveau master Victor Horta. The house was built for the decorator Léonard de Saint-Cyr. The house is strikingly narrow, with a width of just 4 metres.
The house is richly decorated with typical Art Nouveau facets. Behind the Baroque Art Nouveau façade, is a town house with a total surface area 436 m². The Saint-Cyr House has five floors and has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a terrace that offers panoramic views.
Listed building restored to its former glory
Artfully designed glass and metalwork can be found throughout the building and the house is flooded with light from outside. Buyers should be aware that in addition to the rather steep maintenance costs, this listed building is not particularly energy-efficient or well insulated.
The Saint-Cyr House has been a listed building since 1988 and underwent extensive restoration between 2008 and 2019. The current owner is leaving the house because he has other projects. The Saint-Cyr house is on the market for 1.9 million euro.
