Various emergency and security services, including Brussels Mobility, the Brussels Fire Service, the Brussels-Elsene police zone, the Federal Health Ministry, the Belgian Red Cross and Safe.brussels worked together to bring the exercise to a successful conclusion. The scenario simulated a pile-up involving multiple vehicles and casualties and was staged in order to test coordination and response speeds of the services involved.

During the exercise, motorists were diverted via the usual alternative routes. The Brussels Mobility Agency asked people to avoid the area and use public transport if possible.

The tunnels were reopened to traffic at 8AM.

Exercises like this are crucial for improving the preparedness of emergency services and strengthening cooperation between different agencies. They allow procedures to be refined and enable an assessment of how quickly and efficiently responses are made in emergency situations.
