During an inspection of a number of hookah lounges in the Brussels borough of Schaarbeek, police seized more than four hundred bottles of nitrous oxide aka laughing gas. Four people were arrested and one of the bars was sealed.

Prosecutors seal Schaarbeek hookah lounge after finding 420 bottles of laughing gas

A hookah lounge is an establishment where patrons share shisha from a communal hookah or from one placed at each table or a bar used to smoke marijuana or tobacco.
Officers found three bottles of laughing gas behind the bar in a hookah lounge on the Leuvensesteenweg. Punters were also caught smoking hookahs in the bar, even though the bar did not have a licence to allow this.
During subsequent searches, a total of 420 bottles of laughing gas were seized, along with a small amount of marijuana and more than 11,000 euros in cash.
