The four Belgians aboard the Global Sumud flotilla that was bound for the Gaza Strip, who were detained by the Israeli army, have been released, Belgian foreign minister Prévot (Francophone centrist) has announced.
The Belgians were arrested last Thursday after the Israeli army stopped the aid convoy heading for Gaza. Foreign minister Maxime Prévot posted on X that four Belgian activists have been released and are on their way to Greece. From there, they will fly back to Belgium.
A total of at least nine Belgians are believed to have been on board the flotilla. It is not yet clear where the other Belgian activists are.
Israel says that 171 activists from the flotilla have been flown to Greece and Slovakia. Among them is Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
