At around 1:45am on Friday 15 drones were spotted flying above the Elseneborn military base that is located a few kilometres from the German border. The base covers an area of 28km². It is an army training camp that includes a secure area in which shooting exercises take place.

VRT News’ military affairs edition Jens Fransen explains that “By chance a system to detect drones was being tested at the base. The system was able to detect the drones. The drones are believed to have flown from Belgium across the border into Germany. There, police in the small town of Düren also saw them."
