The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) has issued a code yellow weather warning for the whole of Flanders and Brussels and two Walloon provinces as south-westerly winds are forecast to continue to strengthen on Monday.
KMI forecasts gusts of up to between 85 km/h and 90 km/h in coastal areas and gusts of between 70 km/h and 80 km/h in areas of the country north of a line running between Tournai (Hainaut Province) and Maastricht (Dutch Limburg). Elsewhere, gusts reach speeds of between 60 km/h and 70 km/h.
On Monday evening and during Monday night, wind speeds will decrease somewhat, but gusts could still exceed 70 km/h on the coast. Minimum temperatures will range between 9°C and 12°C in the Ardennes and between 12°C and 15°C elsewhere. The wind will remain strong to very strong west to south-westerly at the coast and generally moderately strong south-westerly in inland areas. Gusts will reach speeds of between around 75 km/h to 80 km/h at the coast and 50 km/h to 60 km/h inland.
The code yellow weather warning issued by the Royal Meteorological Institute covers the whole of Flanders and Brussels and the Walloon provinces of Hainaut and Walloon Brabant.
