The European Commission's headquarters was one of the locations coloured by Ukrainian blue and yellow. ‘The Ukrainian flag is the symbol of Ukrainian resistance and its unshakeable belief in a better future,’ European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X.

Sunday was Ukraine's Independence Day and a national holiday. Festivities were also staged here on the Jean Rey Square in the European Quarter and elsewhere in Brussels.

Two days ago, the European Union announced that it would release €4.05 billion for Ukraine. This payment means the total amount that the EU has transferred to Ukraine since the start of the war has risen to almost €170 billion.
