Despite a cloudy and even wet start to the day at some locations in the west of the country, Tuesday is set to be a sunny and very warm day. Maximum temperatures will reach as high as 34°C in the Kempen area in the northeast, while at the coast we can expect top temperatures of 26°C.
The temperature won’t peak until around 4pm and it won’t be until around 8pm that temperature slowly start to fall again. Tuesday night will be warm with temperatures forecast not to fall below 20°C.
Heat wave
With top temperatures of around 30°C forecast for the coming days, from Thursday we will officially be in a heatwave.
If top temperatures of 25°C or more are recorded at the Royal Meteorological institute’s weather centre in Ukkel (Brussels) on 5 consecutive days and temperatures have exceeded 30°C on at least 3 of these days, Belgium is officially in a heatwave.
