The Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot (Francophone centrist) has announced that he has summoned Israel’s ambassador to Belgium, Idit Rosenzweig-Abu, to give an explanation following the Israeli government's announcement of its plan to occupy the Gaza City.
The Belgian Foreign Minister says that he “wishes to express our total disapproval concerning this decision, but also regarding the continuation of colonisation of the Palestinian territories by Israel”. Mr Prévot added that the priority now is to “argue strongly for a reversal of these plans”.
“Although it is legitimate to want to destroy the terrorist group Hamas, this should not be done through disproportionate operations that will further lengthen the already very long list of Palestinian civilian casualties” the Belgian Foreign Minister.
