The Belgian Foreign Ministry says that Belgium has evacuated forty people from the Gaza Strip. The group, consisting mainly of children, arrived in Belgium on Thursday evening. They were evacuated from Gaza on Wednesday.
Approximately 500 people are on Belgium’s evacuation list. The list is made up of Belgian nationals and people with a valid visa or residence permit for Belgium. In addition to these the partners and children of Belgian nationals are also entitled to assistance from the Belgian authorities and can be evacuated too if they so wish.
Belgium has already organised several evacuations since the start of the conflict in Gaza. At present the Belgian Foreign Ministry does not yet have any information about the timing of any future evacuations. The Foreign Ministry says that it remains committed to ensuring that others that are entitled to assistance from the Belgian Government to leave the Gaza Strip will be given it.
