A 51-year-old man has died in an industrial accident at a concrete plant in Heist-op-den-Berg, Antwerp province. The victim was cleaning a concrete mixer with a colleague when it unexpectedly began moving, trapping him between the blades.
The victim and a colleague were cleaning a concrete mixer on the premises of AC Materials, on behalf of a company that specialises in industrial cleaning.
The machine unexpectedly started moving while the man was inside. He became trapped between the mixing blades and died at the scene from his injuries.
An inspector from the Occupational Health and Safety Inspectorate attended the scene and the Antwerp Labor Audit Office is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
