De Bruyne to auction art from personal collection for charity

Footballer Kevin De Bruyne will auction a piece of art from his personal collection for charity. The proceeds will go to a department at UZ Gent that treats and supports patients with metabolic disorders.

De Bruyne, the Napoli and Belgium midfielder, is lending his support to a contemporary art auction in aid of Metabolic Diseases UZ Gent. The non-profit organisation funds research into metabolic disorders and is committed to supporting patients and their families.

“As a father, I am deeply moved by how many children suffer from metabolic diseases – rare but often life-threatening conditions that urgently require more research,” De Bruyne posted on X.

Art can change lives. This is your chance to make a difference!

“To help kickstart the initiative, I am opening the auction with a piece from my personal collection: a powerful abstract painting by Claus Bertermann.”

Bertermann is a relatively unknown German artist and former architect. He describes his style as rooted in abstract expressionism and influenced by architecture, abstract art and art brut. De Bruyne will announce which work he is selling at a later date.

He appealed to artists and collectors to sell their work through this auction: “Every contribution counts. Art can change lives. This is your chance to make a difference!”
