The news that a child’s body had been found was first reported by local media and later confirmed by the municipal authorities in Gravelines.

On Saturday, the boy and two other children had ventured into the sea in an inflatable rubber dingy. This was at Gravelines, a municipality that is just over the border in France. The boy's father and uncle were fishing nearby at the time.

While in the sea the three children got into trouble with their inflatable boat. The emergency services were called and a rescue operation was launched straight away. Two of the three children were able to get themselves safety. They were taken to hospital in the nearby town of Dunkirk with minor injuries.

However, despite hours of searching the third child remained missing. On Tuesday fishermen found a body at a jetty. It is believed that it is the body of the missing boy.
