A man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in broad daylight near to a park in the Brussel municipality of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek. The shooting happened close to the Bonnevie Park in the centre of Molenbeek and just a few dozen metres from the municipality’s main police station.
Just after 2:30pm on Thursday the emergency services were called to an incident in the Schoolstraat just a stone’s throw away from the police station. On their arrival they found a man lying on the ground. He was taken to hospital where he is in a critical condition.
Witnesses told the daily ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ that just after the shots were fired there was panic among local residents. There saw two masked men running away from where the shooting had taken place. The police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating the shooting.
