Last Wednesday night at around 1:30am officers from the Middelkerke Local Police Service attended an incident at the home of one of the men.

Three men that jointly run a well-known restaurant in Westende had been involved in a heated argument. There had been some pushing and shoving and a 45-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries when he fell. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition and has since died.

Relationship problems?

The two other men were taken to a police station on Wednesday night. They appeared before an examining magistrate on Friday. It was decided that they should be released under strict bail conditions.

It is still unclear what led to the argument between the three men. It is likely that relationship issues were at play.
