Prime Minister Bart De Wever (Flemish nationalist), who heads a 5-way coalition of Flemish nationalists, Christian democrats and socialists and Francophone liberals and centrists, has expressed his satisfaction.
"The decisions we took last night are the biggest socio-economic reform this country has seen this century" he told a press conference this morning
"Just listing all that has been decided takes an hour. Not all the measures are pleasant, I realise that too. Certainly as far as pensions are concerned, a number of benefit systems are being phased out but very gradually. I understand that this is not pleasant. But I think everyone realises that this had to happen."
