A burglar fell to his death in Brussels last night when 4 men allegedly tried to break into a flat via the façade of a building. The foursome came face to face with the occupants and decided to flee the scene, but one of the suspects fell from the building during his flight and was declared dead at the scene.
‘On Wednesday night four men attempted to enter a flat in the Krakeelstraat in Brussels,’ Laura Demullier of the Brussels public prosecutor's office explains. ‘To do so, they are believed to have climbed onto the facade of the building and to have entered via an open window.’
Deathly fall
What exactly happened next is the subject of an investigation. ‘The 4 suspects and the 2 residents clashed in the flat,’ the prosecutor's spokeswoman says. ‘The 4 suspects then fled through the window. One of the suspects, a 23-year-old man, fell from the 1st floor and died from his injuries on the spot.’
The 3 other suspects are currently being tracked down. The 2 residents will also be questioned. Forensic technicians attended the scene and a police doctor is also on the case. Demullier added ‘In the interest of the investigation, no further comment will be made at the moment.’
