After the hottest 1 July on record, temperatures are again soaring today. In the east and south of the country, temperatures could reach 38 degrees. An amber heat warning applies to Limburg and some Walloon provinces.
Today's weather forecast predicts yet more heat, though there is a big difference between different parts of the country and (thunder) showers are also on the way.
In most regions it remains very warm. In the east, it will be even warmer than yesterday, with highs between 33 and 37 or locally even 38 degrees. In central parts, highs will be lower than Tuesday, between 29 and 34 degrees. In the west, cooler air is already flowing in, with highs between 22 and 29 degrees.
In most areas it will remain sunny. Cloud will gradually move in from the sea towards central parts. During the afternoon, we expect showers along the coast, which may turn thundery. In the east, isolated and locally very intense thunderstorms with heavy precipitation and strong winds may occur.
Tonight it gets drier from the west. Tomorrow we get the cooling many people crave: highs of 19 or 20 degrees on the coast, rising to 24 or 25 degrees in the Kempen District and Belgian Lorraine.
